1991, the Gulf War: Ibrahim, an Iraqi soldier, escapes from Kuwait as the army retreats, facing a perilous crossing through the southern desert — a no-man's-land between Saddam's regime and American cross fire. Captured by the Republican Guard and cast into Saddam's prisons as a suspected traitor, his fate seems sealed. In 2013, searching for answers about Ibrahim's journey, the director encounters three people whose lives were shaped by that same history — a photographer with a painful secret, a farmer hiding his scars, and a former prisoner stripped of his humanity. Through fiction and reality, past and present, the film returns to a fateful climax on the battlefields of Babylon.
